Holding a Safe Space for You is my Life’s Mission!

A new opportunity came up to coach other women financial advisors and build out a female platform for another company. Always intrigued by helping more women in finance, I took a trip to visit them with our Creative director Ilissa. On the flight down, I was reflecting on my work and all that we do at the Women’s Wealth Boutique. The past few years have been very trying on us advisors, but also on our clients as we’ve hit more and more unexpected turns in our health, the markets, and our economy. From a pandemic shutdown that hit people’s jobs, to their investments, to their work life and home life being constantly pushed to our breaking points…yes life has been very unpredictable these last few years.

My role as a financial advisor has also shifted as I’m speaking with our clients more and more, becoming friends with them during these tough times, and being their grounding force. Most clients after speaking with me say how much calmer they feel. I’m not a therapist but talking through your fears and worries is therapeutic in nature. I hold space for them to vent it out, talk it through, and allow them to feel heard and understood. I’ve often heard other women state their previous advisor would make them feel bad for asking certain questions, even get defensive, and shut them down quickly. As advisors it is our responsibility to create a safe space for you to feel heard, to get educated, and to feel calm amidst the storm. It doesn’t mean we have all the answers or a crystal ball to the outcome, but we can best guide you when we know how you are truly feeling.

As I was in the air, it hit me how important it is to create this calming space for our clients. I thought back to all my learnings on the laws of attraction, the bible and God’s word, and saw how science was bridging the gap between the spiritual world and the practical world. The more stressed you are over your money, the more you are resisting more money coming into your life. You become focused on what you are fearing, what you are missing, and wishing so deeply to have more money in your bank account. The more you focus on what you don’t have like more money in your account, better stock market returns, or more income coming in, the less you will receive any of it. This is what has drawn me so much into bringing God into my work. He allows me to feel abundant, to shift into receiving, and to allow myself to feel so very blessed. The moment I feel gratitude is the moment I shift from lack to receiving. If you are feeling tight with your money or nervous about it, here are 3 shifts you can make right now:

  1. Express gratitude! Write down a full page, multiple pages if you can, of everything you are grateful for in this moment. It can be the air you breath, the chair you are sitting on, or I often write I am grateful for gratitude!
  2. Meditation: this will immediately shift you from stress and overwhelm into being and receiving.
  3. Surrender: surrender all your worries to God. He is here to let you know that you do NOT have to do it all on your own. Try this prayer: Lord, I surrender to you _____________________, I thank YOU for taking on my burdens, and I welcome them all to unfold in the most beautiful, divine way possible.

Now I want to back all of these with science to show you how important it is to shift from stress and fear to trust and abundance. When you are under stress, your body will operate in the fight or flight mode which means nutrients and chemicals along with blood stop flowing to your brain. You literally short circuit your brain to stop functioning at its highest level. It pauses your critical thinking and puts you in victim mode. In victim mode, you often feel trapped and isolated with very little options. The only options you do see are for the short term, and usually sabotage you long term. Your brain has tunnel vision and will block out all other opportunities…your brain won’t allow you to receive! Your brain will focus only on what it already knows which are behaviors you have done in the past. The problem with these behaviors is that they haven’t gotten you to where you truly want to be. You become the definition of insanity: trying the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. You get more frustrated, you feel like you have failed, and these will reaffirm your beliefs that you aren’t good enough, smart enough, or strong enough. Sorry for the gut punch but I need you to understand how important this work is that we are doing!

By expressing gratitude, meditating, or releasing your stress to God, you are shifting from fight or flight mode to rest and healing mode. Your brain begins to receive the needed chemicals, nutrients, and blood again, your critical thinking is tapped back on, and you can begin to identify NEW opportunities! How exciting is that! You will find new behaviors that will bring you to all that you have been manifesting and praying for! So read back to that checklist and begin the process of receiving again!
